RAISING CAPITAL AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT FOR STARTUPS

On 6th April 2026, a lecture on “Raising Capital and Financial Management for Startups” was conducted at B. S. Negi MPPS, attended by around 50 enthusiastic students. The session aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, focusing on how startups secure funding and manage their finances effectively. The session was taken by Mr. Shivam and , Mr. Sajid Chaudhary MS. Manisha Joshi from the Directorate of Industries.The lecture began with an overview of startups and their importance in today’s economy. Students were introduced to the concept of innovation-driven businesses and how entrepreneurs transform ideas into viable ventures. The speaker emphasized the role of planning, market research, and financial discipline in building a successful startup.A major portion of the lecture focused on raising capital. Various sources of funding were explained in a simple and engaging manner, including:

• Bootstrapping (Self-funding)
• Support from Family and Friends
• Angel Investors
• Venture Capital
• Bank Loans and Government Schemes

Students learned about the advantages and risks associated with each funding option, as well as the importance of pitching ideas effectively to investors.The second half of the session covered financial management, highlighting how startups can sustain and grow their operations. Key topics included budgeting, cash flow management, cost control, and the importance of maintaining financial records. Practical examples were used to help students understand how poor financial planning can lead to business failure, even if the idea is strong.An interactive question-and-answer session followed, where students actively participated and clarified their doubts regarding startup challenges, funding strategies, and money management. The discussion encouraged critical thinking and sparked interest in entrepreneurship among the participants.The lecture concluded with motivational insights, encouraging students to develop problem-solving skills, stay curious, and consider entrepreneurship as a potential career path. Overall, the session was informative, engaging, and inspiring for all attendees.
