The essential aspect of the curriculum of the skill base creative art courses is the practical knowledge of the various verticals of the course. Market Survey for identifying the most appropriate fabric, threads, accessories etc. for embroidery and design patterns is conducted for the students of our Sansthan.
The students of Garment Technology department were escorted by the faculty Ms. Meenakshi for an extensive survey of the local market to explore the plethora of available fabrics, threads etc. for their project work on 29 January 2024 . The purpose of the survey was to gather valuable insights that would be helpful in curriculum enhancement and keep students aware of the latest fabrics.
The students visited the Gambhir store in Moti Bazaar, Bombay Cut piece in Paltan Bazaar, Khandelwal Fabrics in Rama Market, Bhatia Cloth House in Saharanpur Chowk. The faculty Ms. Meenakshi helped them to recognise the original quality, durability, unique textures and patterns of the fabric. The students collected materials for traditional embroidery and learnt the selection process of fabric and threads for various patterns and designs. It was a fulfilling market survey.
The students also got aware about the price variations of the same fabric at different stores. It will help the students to gain valuable input of new challenges and innovations while working in the industry. Such type of visits with the garment expert faculties always proves to be fruitful as it enables them to recognise the challenges of the industry and the solutions as well.
