LECTURE "SAVE TREES, SAVE THE NATION"

On July 30th, 2024, the Sansthan hosted an enlightening lecture titled "Save Trees, Save the Nation," delivered by esteemed environmentalist Dr. Ravi Chopra. The event drew a diverse audience, including students, academics, environmental activists, and concerned citizens. The event aimed to raise awareness about the critical importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance and to inspire community action towards environmental conservation.

Dr. Ravi Chopra, renowned for his extensive work in environmental science and advocacy, began his lecture by emphasizing the critical role trees play in maintaining ecological balance. He highlighted the multifaceted benefits of trees, including their contribution to clean air, water conservation, and soil health. Trees, he explained, act as natural air purifiers by absorbing pollutants and releasing oxygen, which is essential for human survival.

One of the key points Dr. Chopra addressed was the alarming rate of deforestation occurring globally and its detrimental effects on biodiversity and climate change. He presented compelling data and case studies done in Dehradun city to illustrate the correlation between deforestation and the increase in extreme hot weather.

In his lecture, Dr. Chopra explained how in certain hilly areas of Uttarakhand people preserve the forests by keeping them safe on their God’s or Goddesses’ names to prevent afforestation. He concluded his lecture with a call to action, urging the audience to actively participate in tree-planting initiatives by protecting and nurturing trees, The lecture was followed by an interactive session, where attendees had the opportunity to answer the questions asked by Dr. Chopra. The event was well-received, leaving the students and employees inspired and motivated to contribute to the cause of environmental conservation.
