A guest lecture on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2013, and the Sexual Harassment
of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) (POSH) Act, 2013, was conducted for students of
B.S. Negi Mahila Pravidhik Prashikshan Sansthan (MPPS) . The session, held today in the college auditorium, was
delivered by Sh. Umesh Rawat, a seasoned legal specialist.
The lecture was taken on April 20, 2026, in the college Auditorium. focusing on skill-based diploma courses in
fields like apparel design and textile design. It targeted students, aligning with the institution's emphasis on safe
educational environments for young women. Sh. Rawat explained the POCSO Act, 2013..which protects children
under 18 from sexual abuse, mandating reporting, child-friendly trials, and overriding conflicting laws. He
highlighted punishments for offenses like penetrative assault and the role of Special Courts. On POSH Act, 2013,
effective from December 9, 2013, he covered its applicability to all workplaces including educational institutions,
requiring Internal Complaints Committees and annual compliance reports.
