India's space agency “ISRO” had closed in on an attempt to land a spacecraft on the moon's south pole, a mission with implications for the country's standing as a space power and for future lunar exploration.
Chandrayaan-3 was launched on 14 July 2023, at 2:35 pm IST as scheduled, from Satish Dhawan Space Centre Second Launch Pad in Srihari Kota, Andhra Pradesh, India. The spacecraft entered lunar orbit on 5 August 2023.
Chandrayaan 3's Lander is named Vikram. This name was given after Vikram Sarabhai. Moreover, the lander was responsible for the safe landing on Moon's surface. It consisted of a lander named Vikram and a rover is named Pragyan.
As per the ISRO official website, there was a live broadcast of Chandrayan-3 mission on August 23, 2023, starting from 17:27 Hrs. IST (5:27 PM). We encouraged our students to see the Live Landing to mark India's Historic Mission to Moon.
