The Harela festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm and cultural spirit at B S Negi MPPS
on 22 July 2025. Harela, a traditional festival of Uttarakhand, symbolizes prosperity, greenery,
and the beginning of the sowing season. It also promotes awareness of environmental
conservation, making it an ideal occasion for educational institutions like ours to instill eco-
consciousness among students.The event began with a welcome speech by Principal Mrs.
Namita Mamgain, who emphasized the cultural and environmental importance of the Harela
festival.The ceremony was made special with the presence of Dr.Madhuri Barthwal, a
celebrated Folk singer of Uttrakhand and a Padma Shree awardee and her accompanying
artists who sang melodious renditions of Uttrakhand signifying the importance of Harela
festival. Students and staff joined the song and dance festivities with enthusiasm and joy
creating a very festive ambience in the Sansthan.The ceremony was officially inaugurated
with the traditional sowing of seeds and planting of saplings on the campus.The Harela
celebration at B S Negi MPPS was a great success. It not only revived cultural values but also
created awareness about the urgent need for environmental protection. The active
participation of students and staff reflected the collective commitment toward building a
greener and more sustainable future.
The college plans to continue such eco-friendly initiatives throughout the year as part of its
vision to promote environmental consciousness among youth.
