A program was
conducted at BS Negi MPPS by the Central Silk Board under the Ministry of
Textiles. The event focused on the Silk Mark and Silk Mark Schemes, aimed at
promoting and certifying authentic silk products. The session was addressed by
prominent experts, including Mr. Dasharathi Behera, Deputy Secretary, Regional
Office, Central Silk Board, New Delhi, and Dr. Surinder Bhatt, Scientist-D at the
Central Silk Board, Dehradun.
Mr. Behera
highlighted the importance of the Silk Mark in ensuring the quality and
authenticity of silk products, which in turn helps in protecting consumer
interests and promoting the Indian silk industry. He elaborated on the benefits
of the Silk Mark Scheme, emphasizing how it supports producers and
manufacturers in distinguishing genuine silk from synthetic substitutes.
Dr. Bhatt
provided valuable insights into the technical aspects of silk production and
the role of the Central Silk Board in research, development, and policy
implementation. His session emphasized the significance of scientific
advancements in improving silk quality and sustainability.
