B.S. Negi Sansthan
organized a special performance of Hindustani classical music by Kashyap Bandhu
on 30th September 2024. Dr. Prabhakar Kashyap and Dr. Diwakar Kashyap,
collectively known as Kashyap Bandhu, began their musical journey under the
guidance of their parents, Pt. Ramprakash Mishra and Mrs. Meera Mishra. Later,
they had the privilege of being trained by the esteemed maestros of the Banaras
Gharana, Padma Bhushan awardees Pt. Rajan Mishra and Pt. Sajan Mishra.
Kashyap Bandhu is known
for their powerful and expressive voices, effortlessly navigating all three
octaves. They were accompanied by Pt. Mithilesh Jha on Tabla and Pt. Sumit
Mishra on Harmonium.
It was an honor to
witness such accomplished artists performing live. The students and staff were
captivated by the mesmerizing performance and engaged in enriching
conversations with the artists. The program commenced with a piece in Raag
Vrindavani set to vilambit taal.
Towards the end, a
soulful bhajan, an original composition by Pt. Rajan Mishra and Pt. Sajan
Mishra, celebrating the greatness of gurus, was performed beautifully. The
jugalbandi between the artists was a sheer delight to experience.
Mrs. Namita Mamgain, the Principal, praised the artists for their melodious performance and extended her appreciation to the accompanying musicians on Tabla and Harmonium. She honored the performers by presenting them with handcrafted Pahadi topis, made by the students of the Sansthan. The event was organized by the SPIC MACAY Society.
