On the 10th and 11th March 2024, BS Negi Mahila Pravidhik Prashikshan Sansthan celebrated International Women's Day with great fervour and enthusiasm through its annual event, "Abhivyakti." This event aimed to commemorate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women while also fostering empowerment and solidarity among the students and alumni of the institute.
The day commenced with an Alumni Meet-RAABTAA… the cord to connect, where past graduates of the institute came together to reconnect, reminisce, and share their professional experiences since leaving the institution. It was a heartening sight to witness the alumni, who have carved successful paths in various fields, return to their alma mater to inspire and guide the current students. The meet provided a platform for networking, mentorship, and exchange of valuable insights, reinforcing the strong bond within the BS Negi Mahila Pravidhik Prashikshan Sansthan community. A time to cherish forever….
The event marked the commencing of a Running Trophy -Shobhana Wahi Excellence Award installed by our Founder patron Mrs.Shobhana Wahi to be awarded to the Best all rounder of the current academic session. The winner was Swati Kamboj, who is also the State Topper at the UBTER. The Trophy was presented by Mrs.Shobhana Wahi in the presence of her Daughters Mrs. Sunanda Lal and Mrs. Shalini Chauhan.
The highlight of the event was the captivating Fashion Show, which showcased the creativity, talent, and flair of the students. With meticulously curated outfits and choreographed routines, the participants dazzled the audience with their runway prowess. The Fashion Show not only served as a platform for students to exhibit their fashion sense but also conveyed powerful messages of empowerment, self-expression, and inclusivity. Through innovative themes and designs, the show celebrated the diversity and individuality of women while challenging stereotypes and promoting body positivity.The six sequences of the Fashion show namely: Mayoli, Black Glam, Bijiya, Varshini, Regal Runway and Ulfat clearly brought out an array of designs encompassing the stylish garments.
The Chief Guest for 10 March 24 was Mrs. Radha Raturi IAS, Chief secretary of Uttarakhand. The other Guests of Honour were Mrs. Shobhana Wahi -our Founder Patron, Her daughters Shalini Chauhan, Sunanda Lal and her grand Daughter Savera Chauhan, Dr. Surekha Dangwal -Vice Chancellor -Doon University, Mrs. Kusum Kandwal-Adhyaksh Mahila Aayog -Uttarakhand, Mrs. Meenakshi Joshi, IFS -Principal CASFOS FRI, Mr. Anand Shukla MD-Uttarakhand Cooperative Resham Federation, Mr. J P Mamgain, IRS -Ex-Chief Information Commissioner Uttarakhand, Mrs. Archana Gupta President OOMS, Mrs. Bhuvneshwari Naithani The presence and blessings of the founder patron Mrs Shobhana Wahi was heartwarming and overwhelming.
In her address Mrs. Radha Raturi emphasised that the girls should become financial independent and that the domestic hard work of women which is not quantified needs to be recognised and valued. She appreciated the hard work of the students and faculty and the management.
The Chief Guest for 11 March 24 was the first lady of Uttarakhand, Mrs. Gurmit Kaur. The other Guests of Honour were Dr .Devender Bhasin -Vice Chairman State higher education UPG Commission, Dr. Geeta Khanna-Chairperson- State Commission for Protection of Women &Child ,Mrs. Madhu Bhatt Vice Chairman – Uttarakhand Sanskriti Sahitya and Kala Parishad, Mrs. Vinod Uniyal- Vice Chairman womenEntrepreneur Commission, Mr. Rajesh Upadhyay Secretary UBTER ,Mrs. Patricia Hilton, Director Hilton school, Mrs. Jyotsana Sharma Vice President Shri Nitya Nand swami Jan Sewa Samiti , Mr Ram Gopal state president -International Vaish Federation, Mr. Satish Sharma -Film Consultant & Heads the Garhwal post.
In her speech Mrs. Gurmit Kaur stated that she felt as if she was watching a Bollywood fashion show. She was well aware that this institute has been making an important contribution in making the women of Uttarakhand self-reliant by providing skill-based education for the last 37 years, which is commendable and is run with the aim of women empowerment, is invaluable in itself. She praised the management and the entire team of the show and expected Principal Namita Mamgain to be successful in taking this institution forward. She announced the amount of Rs. 51000/- as grant for the institute. The Programme started with the welcome speech of the Principal. The other speakers of the day were Minister of State for higher education Dr. Devendra Bhasin, Mrs. Geeta Khanna, Mrs. Madhu Bhatt, Mrs. Vinod Uniyal, The Women's Day celebration at BS Negi Mahila Pravidhik Prashikshan Sansthan, under the banner of "Abhivyakti," was a resounding success, epitomizing the spirit of empowerment, solidarity, and creativity. The event not only honoured the achievements of women but also inspired and motivated the participants to strive for excellence and contribute to the advancement of society. The Sansthan will continue to uphold the principles of gender equality, diversity, and empowerment, not just on International Women's Day but always.
