OBSERVANCE OF HANDLOOM DAY AT B S NEGI MPPS

As per the mandate and guidelines of Office of District Commissioner , Handloom Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, 11th National Handloom Day shall be celebrated all over India with great joy and verve on 7thAug 2025 . As a prelude to that grand celebration, Weavers' Service Centre, Chamoli reached out to our Sansthan to organise a series of competition for our students to signify the importance of Handlooms among the young generation.

In order to make the event a resounding success, following competitions were organised for the students of B S Negi MPPS by the Weavers' Service Centre, Chamoli: .

1. An essay competition on the topic "My Handloom : My Pride"
2. A competition named Traditional Aura: Handloom Modelling Competition was organised wherein the participants creatively used handloom fabrics and conducted a ramp walk to showcased their Creative Fabric usage.
3. A Handloom Weaving Competition wherein participants were judged on their handloom weaving skills on a multi treadle desk loom.
4. A Poetry Competition on the topic of "My Handloom: My Pride".

The programme was attended by the six members of Weavers' Service Centre, Chamoli, Akshay Pandey-Tech.Supdt, Jasmati Gadiyal- Sr. Weaver, Puran Singh-Sr. Printer, Pramod Koli- Kr. Weaver, Deepak Kumar- MTS and Anita Devi- MTS. Mr.Akshay Pandey shared a very informative and interesting presentation on Handloom and later held a Quiz ,for both the staff and students, based on the presentation.

Mrs. Namita Mamgain, Principal of B. S. Negi MPPS, addressed the gathering and highlighted the achievements of the sansthan. She congratulated all the participants and winners, and expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Textiles and the Weavers' Service Centre for providing this enriching opportunity. She noted that such initiatives greatly motivate students and instil pride in our indigenous crafts. The winners of the competition shall be awarded at the Main Function of 11th National Handloom Day, 2025 to be held at Auditorium, Culture Department which is expected to be presided by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. .
